The facade as the calling card of a house
For centuries, especially in urban architecture, front walls have been exposed, creating original, eye-catching façades for the passers-by.
Currently, the most popular materials used to build the exterior of walls of buildings are clinker and face bricks. Mineral or acrylic plasters are also often used. Ceramic façade bricks, both clinker and face gain more and more supporters, mainly due to their durability and resistance to atmospheric factors. Apart from technical parameters, the aesthetic value of the brick façade is an important advantage.
The Polish market offers not only the whole range of colors of bricks and clinker, investors may also choose a design-appropriate structure of the façade, its dimensions and finally select the color of the joints.
What's more, a special way of clay baking has lent the bricks an interesting visual effect - depending on the angle of light, the façade can take on different shades and give off various reflections. The latest architectural idea is to combine multi-colored bricks, resulting in original façade designs. When starting construction of a house, we should decide at the design stage whether to choose a clinker façade or finish the wall with mineral or acrylic plaster. This is related to the fact that the construction of a three-layer wall requires wider foundations.
Thus, even the choice of wall construction technology is conditioned by the choice of material for the façade. Seeing as triple-layered walls, are becoming increasingly popular, clinker or face bricks offer an ideal choice for building the outer layers. Proponents of modern styling will certainly choose to use clinker, available not only in standard shades of red, but also in different shades of gray, beige and even black.
Traditional façades, styled to look like aged wall, can be successfully reproduced by applying hand-molded face brick, characterized by reddish-brown color and irregular face structure.
The proven method for refreshing the appearance of a building is the use of façade tiles that are laid on the outer wall surface. Properly laid and finished with joints, they perfectly imitate brick walls. As with clinker and face bricks, façade tiles are available in a variety of colors and textures.
