The "Innovations in Architecture" competition comes to an end

We are facing the big finale of the "Innovations in Architecture" project, organized by the monthly magazine Architektura – Murator. During the ceremonial Gala, which will take place on November 16 of this year, the awards in the categories: Innovative Design and Innovative Studio will be granted.

The development of the Polish architectural market through the implementation of new solutions is very important for the Röben brand, which is why we joined the campaign as one of the main sponsors.

The idea behind the project is to promote innovation in Polish architecture. As part of the workshop, the participants acquired knowledge about unconventional solutions and technologies. An important aspect of the meetings was the exchange of experiences with well-known architects, who inspired the participants with their view of the contemporary industry. The organizers hope that the series of events will contribute to the creation of many unconventional projects and solutions that will represent the domestic architectural market in the future.

During the last – after the ones held in Kraków on May 19 of this year and in Gdańsk on October 4 of this year – meeting that took place on October 27 in Warsaw, students of architecture discovered new ways of using prefabricated residential modules by implementing them in technological infrastructure, urban tissue and modern housing structures. Prof. Zbigniew Maćków, the world-renowned architect, supervised the content and practical part of the workshop, paying attention to a number of factors on which innovative architecture is based. He conducted the workshops together with Karolina Ostrowska-Wawryniuk, architect and PhD student of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, where she carries out research on the use of BIM and generative tools in the design of prefabricated architecture.

The meetings organized by the monthly "Architektura – Murator" were also attended by representatives of the Röben company, including Roman Tereszczak, Jacek Cebula, Agnieszka Spychała, Krzysztof Omilian and Wiesław Czajkowski, who discussed the idea of the "Design By Röben" project at the Workshop in Gdańsk.

The finalists were first selected by the representatives of 25 Polish universities of architecture, and then in a public session of the jury in Warsaw, the authors of projects/designs nominated in the first stage delivered short presentations. The jury composed of Robert Konieczny (chairman), Piotr Kuczia, Marlena Happach, Radosław Stach and editor-in-chief of the Architektura-Murator monthly, Ewa P. Porębska had the opportunity to ask the authors additional questions, and then the closed part of the meeting started, during which they also discussed the designs submitted in the Innovative Studio category.

The grand finale of the competition and the awarding of prizes in the above categories and in the Internet users' poll will be held on November 16, 2017 during the Innovation Gala in the Innovation Management and Technology Transfer Center of the Warsaw University of Technology. The gala will also feature the speech of His Excellency the Dutch Ambassador Ronald JPM van Dartel and a lecture by a Dutch architect Caroline Bos from the UN Studio, entitled "Why is innovation important?".

Here you can vote in the Internet poll for the best design until November 13.
