Another "Polish Night" in the USA
For the sixth time Marcin Gortat, the ambassador of our company, together with the volunteers of his MG 13 foundation and friends from the Washington Wizards organized a "Polish Heritage Night" last Saturday. Washington Wizards played an occasional match against New Orleans Pelicans.
The aim of the event is to acquaint Americans with the Polish culture. A group of Poles came to the match at a special invitation of Marcin Gortat, including war veterans and celebrities – e.g. the actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś and Joanna Jędrzejczyk, a MMA champion. Also the youngest athletes – the winner of the Orphanage Tournament for the Marcin Gortat Cup, Dawid Jaźwiński, the winner of the School Skills Challenge – Marta Szaroleta, and also the best students of the Marcin Gortat Sports Championship Schools – Ola Zielińska, Julia Gliwa and Kuba Brandys had an opportunity to watch the match. It is important to note that the organizers honored the invited veterans – soldiers who risked their lives mainly outside the country. During the break, the guests were asked to come to the court so that the audience could commemorate their achievements with a standing ovation.
In the break, we could also see a performance of cheerleaders from Wrocław. An additional attraction was a "feigned" fight of Joanna Jędrzejczyk with the mascot of the team – G-Wiz. The organizer also organized a special meeting for all those who bought a "Polish ticket", during which they received the basketballer player’s autographs. A message from the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda was also displayed on the wall screen. He addressed his words mainly to the Polish community in America.
Our ambassador scored 12 points in the match and had 17 rebounds, and the event itself enjoyed great popularity among both Polish and American media. We are proud that we can cooperate with Marcin Gortat who promotes Polish culture in the world and strives to preserve the good reputation of our country. Congratulations on taking such important initiatives. We hope that we will be able to support our Ambassador also during the next important events.
