A fierce battle of our team in the final match of the Polish Volleyball Cup!
PGE Skra Bełchatów, the volleyball team that we have supported for many years, played a match for the 2017 Polish Volleyball Cup last Sunday.
The rivalry with Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle unfortunately did not win us the cup, but the players showed incredible prowess and team play. The Skra volleyball players also received individual prizes for the best defensive player and server of the tournament.
Although in the beginning of the first set Zaksa was more fortunate, Skra caught up with the opponents leaving the result of the first part of the match unknown until the very end. The players from Kędzierzyn-Koźle managed to win, scoring two points more than their opponents. This situation was reversed in the second set, which Bełchatów won with the advantage of two points. In the third set, the teams played a very even, good game. The first minutes resulted in points for Skra, but after the tenth point Zaksa began to even out, winning 25:20.
The last set firmly began by our protégés, bringing a definite victory to Zaksa. It should be noted, however, that the match was very even, and Bełchatów did not give away the title without a fight. This was confirmed by the titles of the best defensive player and the best server obtained by Skra players: Robert Milczarek and Artur Szalpuk, who certainly earned these distinctions during all the matches of the tournament. It is also worth to point out that for the Skra libero, this year's tournament was particularly fruitful, because after 12 years he received the statuette for the best player in the semi-final match, then the prize for the best defending volleyball player of the whole tournament.
We would also like to thank the whole coaching team, who supported and led the team during the tournament. Special congratulations for the coaches: Philippe Blain and Krzysztof Stelmach. Thank you all for such an even match and the emotions! We are counting on the rematch in the next season, in which we will certainly support you as much as in the previous year.
